Preaching the Word of "Unity" in Uganda
November 22nd, 2011
Our home in Jinja is located near a school called Magwa Primary School. Many orphans attend this school. On Nov 20, 2011 Miya and I were blessed to meet several of these children in no better place then a church service that takes place every Sunday within the school walls. We were greeted by Lillian, Pastor Toli’s wife, outside at the gate at 10:30 am and kindly led back to the warehouse where men, woman and children were lifting their voices up high to the Lord. To watch the kids dance and sing was very uplifting. A strong woman of God stood up and spoke boldy the words of the Lord while leading worship and tears came into my eyes because I knew that I was home. Home in the Father’s arms as the Kingdom has no land boundaries! In this church God’s children come forward to lead worship, there were several that day. The Spirit moved mightily and we were blessed to be part of God’s hand at work. I was asked to preach. I knew this ahead of time, but I had no idea that 60 or so kids were going to be on the receiving end. For those of you that know me, you know that I am pretty intense so to preach to children without knowing was def. God’s sense of humor. I sought the Lord for the word He desired for me to speak the whole week prior and that morning I felt the Spirit touch me to preach on unity. I was led to speak out of John 17. I read the chapter and as led by the Spirit I looked into the eyes of the children and spoke the life that was pouring through me from other places in God’s word. It felt very comfortable and it was concise (my wife even gave me a thumbs up.) In John 17 what I love about it so much is the intimate prayer that is exposed as Jesus cries out to our Father for us! He calls on protection for us from the evil one, and unity that we be one in Him. It is so transparent the Love that he demonstrates and it speaks volumes to our Great Commission. So we join in His prayer, for him and through Him we will come together with no divisions as His bride!
Love you guys!
May JehovahNissi blanket you with Grace.
Shalom.
