Clue
October 20th, 2009
When I first got word that Clue was doing a re-brand for it’s next generation board game, aiming for a graphic novel look: edgy, dark, action packed, I thought it was too good to be true. Ed Laag, Designer/Animator, and I, collaborated on a direction that we felt was a perfect fit for the new world of “Clue!” We found ourselves deep in the fantasy world, striving to keep full authenticity in our design direction: shooting all of our references, rendering inkings of selected characters, bringing the look and feel to life (environments, effects, layout) while acutely attending to the script. A world of espionage full of monochromatic color accented by each characters presence in scene.
After a week and 1/2 of hardcore design we put together the layout below that awarded the job to Shilo.
From design phase to production phase the job went on for 3+ months. I created several pieces of concept art, and designed the characters, which were then passed on to be modeled and animated in a 3d world.
All content was created for Shilo.

I seriously can’t believe they ended up going with that bo-bo looking style. Had they gone with your stuff above, I would be playing Clue right now.
